What’s the Problem?

New research published in the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that people who spend a lot of time sitting may be up to 40% more likely to die from any cause, compared to people who don’t sit as long. Researchers link sitting for long periods of time with a number of health concerns:

  • A nearly 50% increased risk of death from any cause
  • About a 125% increased risk of cardiovascular disease, chest pain (angina) or heart attack
  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Increased high blood sugar
  • Excess fat around the waist & bottom
  • Abnormal cholesterol levels
  • Restlessness
  • Foggy brain, memory problems
  • Lethargy (extreme tiredness)
  • Slower metabolism & weight gain

Unfortunately, research also shows that sporadic trips to the gym, or trying to exercise before or after work – can’t undo the effects of a day spent sitting.

  • An estimated 300,000 people die each year from problems related to obesity.
  • As your weight increases so do your chances of dying.
  • Even moderate weight gains (10 to 20 pounds for a person of average height) increases the risk of death, particularly among adults aged 30 to 64 years – the normal ages of most online entrepreneurs!
  • People with a BMI > 30 * have a 50 to 100% increased risk of premature death from all causes, compared to individuals with a healthy weight. (If you don’t understand BMI and what yours is, keep reading – I can show you how easy it is to to figure that out so you know where you stand).

And that’s not all –

Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Breathing Problems, Arthritis, Reproductive Problems – and MORE are additional problems experienced when you don’t take care of your one and only body.

All of these diseases are related in part to bad health habits including eating too many foods that harm your body instead of making it healthier or by not taking care of yourself properly.

Over the years, research has confirmed that too much belly fat leads to big health problems. It brings on higher levels of the stress hormones of cortisol and adrenaline that work against insulin and cause problems like intense cravings which only packs on more weight. Insulin fights back by rising and when it does, fat sticks like cling wrap around your mid-section, getting harder and harder to get rid of. The next thing you know, fat sneaks up on the surface—subcutaneous fat—and wraps around your insides where you can’t see it, creating dangerous visceral fat. Ultimately, insulin resistance can set in, leading to diabetes and other health issues.

Taking control of your health becomes a “no question” issue. If you don’t, building your business won’t matter – you wont be able to enjoy it anyway.

Be able to feel better, lose weight, and be healthier can become a regular part of your life- without disrupting your lifestyle, although you WILL have to make some changes and work hard to protect the most important thing you have – your health.
